The 300C SRT8 Touring:
Find a Magnum, find a wrecked SRT8 300. Swap the interior and front end then enjoy!
It just looks right, because it is right.
Just not those awful lower bumper lights.

The ‘06-’08 SRT8 Charger/300/Magnum had some of the best damn seats I’ve ever put my butt in. I do love the Magnum SRT8, but my Magnum RT was such a disappointment that I don’t think I’d ever buy one.

With some performance parts I’ve got to imagine an RT could be made awesome.

What killed it for me was the godawful drive by wire throttle, the extremely indecisive NAG1 5-speed auto, the aggressive torque management, the annoying adaptive ECU, the fact that I couldn’t eek out better than 19 mpg no matter how I hypermiled and kept the MDS in 4 cylinder mode, the brittle Daimler-era plastics everywhere, the failure prone front suspension components, and the fact that they tried passing off a 5,000 pound behemoth with 2.82:1 rear end gearing and traction control that can’t be turned off.
I just had a few little odds and ends done to it... Z-Autotech Tranzformer, Diablo Intune, cold air intake and a modified cast-away Challenger SRT8 2.5" straight-through exhaust.
When the stars align just right and the ECU decides that full throttle and a downshift are okay, it’s a hoot. But most of the time, the housewife in the MDX next to you at the light before the road merges down to 2 lanes is going to smoke you.

It’d need a T-56 which would require quite a bit of work.

Indeed. If I ever buy another LX/LC, it’ll be a Challenger RT with zero options in white with black cloth interior and a 6 speed.

Full on Vanishing Point .

Vanishing Point Challenger is best Challenger!

Plum Crazy Challenger is best Challenger.
But Vanishing Point is awesome too.

Yep, this pretty much sums up the past year of living with my ‘08 RT. I have lost all interest in the LX cars.

Thank you. Usually when I express my sentiments about the LX cars, the other owners get offended and start spewing bald eagles. Seriously though- I wanted a Magnum since the first moment I laid eyes on one. I did the responsible Jalop thing and waited for depreciation to set in and scooped one up. That was one seriously disappointing 8 year wait. I really, really, really wanted to love it.

I’ll call it a tie.

I wonder how hard it would be to get the front end panels from a 2015+ Scat Pack/SRT 392/SRT Hellcat to fit on a Magnum? Also, Smyth Performance is developing a ute kit for 05-10 Chargers. Shouldn’t require any welding, IIRC.

The Magnum was one of my realistic dream cars in high school. All the problems with my Charger relate to their terrible choices in electronics/ECU. I can feel the engine has potential and wants to go, but as you said, only when the stars align. I’d be more pissed about it but mine is a former police car and I got a pretty good deal on it. I was always a supporter of Chrysler, but the experience has left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.

It’s been done, but IMO the new Charger body lines are too curvy for the rest of the car.
Meh, the car was meant to be a 300, so it should be a 300.

Those “awful lower bumper lights” are mandatory rear fog lights on this factory spec 300C wagon (EU market).
My German father in law actually has a Magnum (so with the US front end), and one of the things they had to do to make that barge legal here was add a rear fog light. I can tell you the aftermarket solution is a lot uglier than the factory solution in the 300C in your picture.

I know. A US spec bumper wouldn’t have those but, since the touring version never sold in the US, only euro spec pics exist. I was just calling it out for laughs.

Yeah, now that you mention it, the front wheel arches would look rather strange without flaring.

Funny, the SRT fixes basically all of those issues. Trans is super eager to downshift and go, throttle is more responsive, got 21-23 mpg cruising across the country (with no MDS and cruising a lot over 80), rear end is 3.06 and you can fully turn off TC. Trust me, its a fucking riot.

IDK, I love the front end of the Magnum. The 300's look so damn classy as sedans though.

“What killed it for me was the godawful drive by wire throttle, the extremely indecisive NAG1 5-speed auto, the aggressive torque management, the annoying adaptive ECU”
Behold, the reasons I hate the automatic Saturn Sky and C6 Corvette.

Now that’s what I’m talking about.

I don’t hat the magnum, but it was meant to be a 300.

They do look good. I’m partial..... ;-)
